Cultural Maleku Tour picks up our clients at the hotels at the specified time to take the pathway that will take us to one of the most important agricultural zones in Costa Rica, the Northern Plains. We drive for about one hour to get to the Indigenous reservation set by the government. In this reservation we find three Maleku communities known as El Sol, Margarita and Tonjibe.
We will visit Tonjibe community where we will meet a local family, which as the rest of families had to adapt themselves to a new lifestyle to survive and keep their traditions and culture intact. Their ancient lifestyle it is against the new environmental government laws such as their homes materials, their diet and medicines; but even so they are working on to preserve the most of their traditions such as their language, dances, diet, dressing, and the use of natural medicines.
That is why they are opening to tourism for visiting their homes to watch their lifestyle and also by selling their handcrafts; this cultural encounter involves a visiting to one of their traditional houses, a walk thru their graveyards to know how they used to bury their family members in the past. Also we will walk thru a botanical garden where they get their medicines from different plants that they use; and a performance of one of their traditional tribal rituals to end with a typical Maleku lunch. After that we get back to the hotel.

A great tour for forest lovers. We leave from La Fortuna in one of our comfortable minivans. The ride takes around 30 minutes to get to a rain forest with hanging bridges at different heights where we will go for a 2 miles hike and with some luck, we will be able to see: howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white faced cappuccino monkeys, lots of birds, snakes, armadillos, coatis, and other animals.
After our hike on the rain forest we will continue our journey to La Fortuna Waterfall a beautiful place with a lot of vegetation around it, once there we will hike down (500 steps with some resting areas) to the waterfall base to go for a swim on the cool pristine waters of La Fortuna river, after all this exercise you will be hungry so we will take to a nice restaurant near by to enjoy a delicious lunch.
Unique Caño Negro is one of the most amazing trips for incredible bird watching ( on dry season ) and wildlife in Costa Rica. Our tour leaves La Fortuna at 7:30 a.m. On the way to Caño Negro you will have the opportunity to learn about agriculture plantations that Costa Rica raise such as yuca, papaya, pineapple, sugar cane and orange.

This unique hike combines natures beauty with a great opportunity to observe th wonderful flora and fauna. During our hike through the Tenorio Volcano National Park we pass by the Celeste River Lagoon and walk along two crystal clear streams which come together to form the rio Celeste. Here the clear water mysteriously changesinto a beautiful bright, light-blue color (hence the name “Light-Blue-River”).
Walking along jungle trails we visit an area where volcanic smoke is expelled at high temperatures from the ground at the bottom of the river, creating sulphur bubles. The stunning colored Rio Celeste Waterfall offers an amazing view.
This trail has a very interesting history. This unique property used to be 100% cattle farm a couple decades ago. No trees, no rainforest, no wildlife.
In 2000, a local Costa Rican, Giovanni, started restoring the forest. Now in 2018, it is impossible to tell the trail used to be a farm, it looks like a rainforest oasis filled with tropical birds, colorful frogs and sloths!
This is also one of the best, if not the best place to see sloths in La Fortuna. The lush forest is home to around 25 sloths which is astonishing because when Giovanni first started restoring the forest, he said there was only one!
On average, people see about 5-6 sloths in one hour which is incredible, especially knowing that just 18 years ago, this was a barren swamp! It's truly a sloth paradise.

Sky Trek is a thrilling zipline circuit that’s located in the magical forests of Costa Rica. You can find this experience in both of our parks, at Monteverde and in Arenal (La Fortuna).
